Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Home Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is regarded by many around the world as the #1 martial art for self-defense, it focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent.

We are a proud affiliate of Professor Daniel “Big Dog” Wanderley, who is a 3rd Degree Black Belt underneath Carlson Gracie Jr. Professor Wanderley is the head Jiu Jitsu/Grappling instructor at Roufusport Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Milwaukee, WI.

We are one of only two affiliates underneath Professor Wanderley for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, while we are the first and only current affiliate to have their Jiu Jitsu program underneath Professor Wanderley while having our kickboxing program underneath Roufusport as well. We take pride in being under one roof, Roufusport! For more info on our Professor, click HERE

When you take the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at Roufusport Appleton, you’ll discover why Jiu-Jitsu is the fastest-growing martial arts program in the world today! Our BJJ/Grappling classes provide great instruction on personal protection and self-defense techniques to help you protect yourself and your loved ones in today’s ever changing and sometimes dangerous society.

BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defense. Sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling”) and live drilling play a major role in training, and preparation for competition. New students are never pressured to roll when just beginning their BJJ training, but encouraged after learning the fundamentals.
